1082 W Butte Street, Claremont, CA

Agenda: MSA (Debi) The Agenda was approved with the addition of:

  1. Invitation to Hilda Solis' Swearing-In Ceremony,
  2. Location of Luncheons,
  3. Attendance at E Board,
  4. Consideration of Endorsement of Anthony Portantino
  5. Open Meetings and
  6. Charter.

Minutes for Approval: MSA(Carolee) The Minutes of the Executive Board meeting of October 18, 2014 and the General Membership meeting of October 27, 2014 were approved.

Treasurer's Report: Carol reported a balance of $4, 200 and then presented a preliminary budget for 2015. Items particularly discussed included inventorying and closing the storage unit and funding the high school lunch meetings.

Village Venture: The DCC booth was considered to be a success especially as many visitors asked for the Democratic Party's recommendations.

Hilda Solis Ceremony: Supervisor-Elect Solis will be sworn into office on Monday, December 1, 2014 at 10:00 AM at the Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration, Los Angeles.

Holiday Party: Those who volunteered are making Phone calls; the menu has been set and several elected representatives will attend the event.

Luncheon Location: Because Casa de Salsa has closed, several restaurants are being considered as the site for our monthly luncheons. Merrill will send Debi a message to distribute to members asking for input re. where to meet.

Endorsement of Anthony Portantino for CA State Senate, SD 25: MSA(Merrill) The motion to defer to the beginning of 2015 the endorsement of Anthony Portantino was approved unanimously.

Unity Dinner: Plans for a possible Unity Dinner included a discussion of that (Unity Dinner) versus a fundraising event. While Pasadena area Democrats are united under the UDH (United Democrats Headquarters umbrella and San Gabriel Valley Democrats have a DPSGV, the Inland Empire/Pomona Valley area lacks ability for sharing of resources. Besides our DCC, local clubs include: Rancho Cucamonga, Russ Warner, Helen Doherty, West End, Chino, Walnut, Stonewall, Claremont Colleges, University of La Verne Democrats, Rialto ("original" and "Baca"), Pomona Valley (2), Bonita, Claremont High School and several high school groups of "Dreamers". A committee needs to address the possibility of an event to which representatives of the clubs will be invited so that all clubs will become acquainted.

Membership Plans: Sandy's proposed membership form was compared with the current form. Carol will redesign a form, incorporating items from each, and then distribute it for renewal use. A modernizing of the Club website was discussed; it is cumbersome and outdated. When the site is more accessible, the five Committees, as described in the newly approved By-Laws, will be added. Meanwhile, Carol will send information about the Club, holiday party and membership to the Daily Bulletin while Merrill will send it to the Claremont Courier Calendar. Facebook was also mentioned.

Correspondence: Cards have been sent to Judy Chu and Adam Schiff for their sponsoring the federal designation of the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument, to Connie Leyva and Pete Aguilar to acknowledge their election victories and to Josie Garcia for her candidacy.

Nominating Committee Status: The committee will meet at Mel Boynton's home on Monday, November 17. A candidate for Corresponding Secretary is being sought.

Web Site Template: The Club currently uses one provided through the CDC. The LACDP is formatting a new template. The Club will continue to consider updating.

Attendance at E Board meetings: Discussion of the topic was postponed.

Charter: Gar will check for the form from LACDP.

Open Meetings: The E Board meetings are open; dates and agenda need to be sent to members within five days of the upcoming meeting.
